Smoke detection

Smoke detection

An optical smoke sensor emits and analyses a light beam. If there is smoke in the light beam, an alarm is generated. An optical smoke detector can detect a smouldering fire at an early stage and therefore react quickly.

WHERE CAN SMOKE DETECTION BE APPLIED?

Optical smoke detectors are used where a large-scale detection system is not necessary but reliable protection is nevertheless required. They are suitable for a wide variety of locations, such as offices, warehouses, schools, museums, hospitals, etc.

THE SYSTEM

Inside the detector, a light beam is emitted and received by a light-sensitive cell. If there is smoke in the light beam, the light will be partially scattered or absorbed. The sensor detects this and generates an alarm. An optical smoke detector can be a stand-alone device or be connected to a fire alarm system.
